After two fantastic years of bringing young musical talent to Des Moines, the Generation Z Showcase will once again return to 80/35. Created in 2014, the Showcase was developed as a way to give young musicians the opportunity to share their skills with fans from around the Midwest as they work to become a part of the future of Des Moines' arts and culture community.
Loyal supporters of local music and DMMC volunteers Seth Andersen and his son Finn designed the Showcase to give young musicians live festival experience and added exposure within the community. The Showcase remains free of charge and features a wide variety of genres and ages, mainly consisting of middle school and high school musicians born since the late 1990s, making them a part of Generation Z. The Generation Z Showcase stage is located on Locust Street, west of 13th Street, next to the sculpture garden in Western Gateway Park.
